Police are everywhere in Europe poses a dilemma. On the one hand staff is mined, on the other hand the overhead increases more and more. The ordinary road presence of the police has to suffer. Police in the British city of Peterborough now uses modern technology to to streamline work processes and thus to gain more time for the patrol. Therefore, a Skype consultation was established, which can be accessed daily between 8: 00 am and 10 pm in the evening. There, witnesses can make their statement or abandon their display to victims of crime. However, the telephone emergency services is responsible for emergencies.

Today the police not always comes to the scene

“This initiative ensures, for example, medical practices – that is the police closer to other services, and like in health care, our emergency response is still available if she need be”, explains Melanie Dales by police in Peterborough. Currently however the police were often half the day en route to to record statements or to accept ads. In these cases, contact via Skype can ensure that saves the time of arrival and departure. This concept is not entirely new: who want to report the theft of a bicycle, for example, in Germany, is asked to come–to the police station and must then wait until a policeman has time to absorb the display in case of doubt.
