Suitcase standing around unattended again calls the security forces on the plan at train stations and airports. They must then elaborately shut off the affected area and painstakingly examine the baggage in question. This brings significant inconvenience to many travelers and is very time consuming. Especially since in most cases fortunately harmless baggage is. In the future, the bomb technicians could however are supported through State of the art technology. In collaboration with the industry and the police of researchers have developed namely a robot, which can examine the case within a few seconds and send the photos to the security forces. They can then either give all-clear or take further action.
The core of the new technology is a specially developed millimeter wave scanner, also called the radar sensor. This scans the baggage off and can then produce pictures of the content. Together with a high-resolution camera and a 3D-system, the transmitter is installed it on a robotic platform. In an emergency these from a safe distance you can control you, provides pictures of the crime scene and can give information about the contents of the luggage. The technique is useful also for the disarming of the bomb. Because images experts can follow the construction of the bomb. This facilitates a targeted mitigation.
